The Newton Republican City Committee will have a 2016 election season kickoff meeting at the Brigham House, 20 Hartford Street in Newton Highlands the evening of April 1, 2015 at 7:00pm. Food and drink are promised to be plenty.

The Newton Republican City Committee had a booth at the Newton Harvest Fair on Sunday, October 19, 2014. We gave out yard signs and literature for our major state candidates.

The Newton Ward 5 Republican Committee had a booth at the Newton Highlands Village Day on Sunday, September 21, 2014. We gave out yard signs and literature for our major state candidates.

The Newton Republican City Committee Fall Kick-Off Meeting was standing-room-only at the Brigham House, 20 Hartford Street, Newton Highlands on Monday, September 15, 2014. Our welcomed guests included Steve Aylward from Tank the Gas Tax, Nick Bayer from MassVictory, Lisa Barstow from the State Committee, and even Republican Senate candidate Brian Herr! The dozens of lawn signs, bumper stickers, and campaign pamphlets they brought were all scooped up by our members.

On Saturday, July 5, 2014 the Newton Republican City Committee had a booth at Albemarle Field. The event was rescheduled due to inclement weather on July 4.

The Newton Ward 5 Republican Committee along with other Newton ward committees held a caucus at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2014 in the Newton South High School cafeteria. We selected five delegates from our ward to the 2014 Massachusetts Republican State Convention which was held on Saturday, March 22 at the Agganis Arena at Boston University.

The Newton Republican City Committee sponsored An Evening With Howie Carr from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the American Legion Post 440, 295 California Street with a cash bar & light refreshments. Howie signed his latest book, Ratman: The Trial and Conviction of Whitey Bulger, at the event.

The last Newton Republican City Committee meeting was at 7:15 pm on Monday, September 9, 2013 in the Newton Police Headquarters Community Room, 1321 Washington Street, West Newton.

Thursday, October 10, 2013 the Ward 5 Republican Committee co-sponsored, along with the Ward 3 and Ward 5 Democratic Committees and the Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council, a Candidates' Night at the Women's Workshop, 72 Columbus Street, Newton Highlands from 7pm until 9:30pm. Forum participants were be Ward 2 School Committee candidates Margaret Albright and Andrea Steenstrup, Ward 5 Alderman-at-Large candidates Deb Crossley, Chris Steele, and Brian Yates, and Mayoral candidate Ted Hess-Mahan.

On Sunday, October 20, 2013 the Newton Republican City Committee had a booth at the Newton Harvest Fair in the Newton Center parking triangle. We gathered signatures on petitions for a voter initiative to repeal the automatic increases in the motor fuel tax.

For the second year in a row the Ward 5 Republican Committee sponsored a booth at the Newton Upper Falls Village Day event at the Emerson Playground on Sunday, September 29, 2013, where we gathered signatures on petitions for a voter initiative to repeal the automatic increases in the motor fuel tax.

The Newton Republican City Committee had a booth for the second year in a row at Albemarle Field the afternoon of July 4, 2013. We previously had a booth at the Newton Harvest Fair on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Newton Center triangle parking lot, where we gave out materials for Republican candidates for Congressman, Senator, and President.

The Newton Republican City Committee's 2012 Christmas and Hanukkah party was at Pizzeria Uno, and the 2013 party was at the Brigham House.

On New Year's Eve, Monday, December 31 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Mayor's Open House at City Hall, for the third year in a row, the Newton Republicans collected items for "Care packages" for our troops overseas.

At the Newton Republican City Committee meeting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in the Newton City Hall Cafeteria we heard a presentation by Moving Newton Forward.

The Brookline, Needham, Newton, and Wellesley Republican city and town committees enjoyed a great backyard barbecue from 2 to 5 Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2012, at the home of Carl and Barbara Nelson in Wellesley. Click here to see the flier. We repeated the affair on Sunday, August 18, 2013, with approximately forty Republicans in attendance.

On June 2, 2011 the Newton Ward 5 Republican Committee sponsored a “Meet the Candidates” night at the MacKenzie Center in Newton Center. A Newton Patch article describes the event.
